Chris Pavey | Mastering Engineer

In 2012 I mastered my first record - and I’ve never stopped! Since then I have been able to work with a truly amazing roster of artists and musicians, creating lasting friendships across the globe, which I will always be grateful for.

I’m located in a quiet village in rural Cambridgeshire UK, and if i’m not in the studio mastering a record, its likely you will find me hiking through the fields up to my knees in mud!

Having been involved in the many different parts of the creative process, I can always empathise with an artist about what a total emotional, and physical undertaking it can be to create and release music. Mastering being the final step can be the point where a number of issues or points come to light in a project, and it’s precisely why this final step is extremely important. It needs to be handled carefully and with complete support for the artist at every stage.

A lot is written on the web about mastering, some true, some false, some fact, some opinion. But if you ask me, there is no secret to mastering, only an unending dedication to perfection. I believe this is what creates that magic when you hear back a great record for the first time, and thats all I ever want to do for the incredibly talented people I’m honoured to work with.

Mastering requires 100% open communication and a complete two way dialogue with the artist - in my opinion there is no other way to master a record.
